Budding Illustrators Program – Ages 13 to 17

Structure: 2 classes per week | 8 classes total | 1 hour each | $30 per lesson

Location: 795 Sterling Lyon Parkway, Winnipeg, MB R3P 1H3.

Focus: Technical mastery, realistic proportions, and portfolio development.

Week 1: Observational Foundations

• Class 1: Contour drawing; training the eye to see edges without lifting the pencil.
• Class 2: Still life sketching; using basic geometric shapes to block out complex objects.

Week 2: Value and Form

• Class 3: Advanced shading; creating 5-step value scales and shading a sphere/cube.
• Class 4: Introduction to "Negative Space" drawing to improve accuracy.

Week 3: Colour Theory & Application

• Class 5: The Color Wheel; mixing primary poster colours to create secondary and tertiary hues.
• Class 6: Water colour techniques (wet-on-wet vs. wet-on-dry) through a botanical study.

Week 4: Acrylics and Personal Style

• Class 7: Acrylic painting basics; layering and opacity on a small canvas.
• Class 8: Creative project: Developing a stylized character or landscape using learned techniques.
