Young Artists Program – Ages 5 to 12

Structure: 2 classes per week | 8 classes total | 1 hour each | $25 per lesson

Location: 795 Sterling Lyon Parkway, Winnipeg, MB R3P 1H3.

Focus: Building confidence through "seeing" shapes and basic colour application.

Week 1: The Magic of Lines and Shapes

• Class 1: Introduction to pencils and various line types (straight, curvy, zig-zag).
• Class 2: Turning 2D shapes into 3D objects (circles to suns, triangles to mountains).

Week 2: Exploring Dry Media (Pencil & Pastel)

• Class 3: Basic pencil shading and "pressure control" exercises.
• Class 4: Introduction to oil pastels; blending colors to create a simple fruit or animal.

Week 3: Introduction to Wet Media (Poster & Water Colour)

• Class 5: Poster colours basics; learning to handle brushes and paint a bold landscape.
• Class 6: Water colour "washes"; experimenting with transparency and painting a sky/sea.

Week 4: Mixed Media & Creative Final Project

• Class 7: Combining pencil colour and pastel for a "Dream House" project.
• Class 8: Final Month 1 piece: A guided "Masterpiece" incorporating their favourite medium from the month.
